Sydney Festival

From contemporary music to art installations and theatrical dance performances, Sydney Festival is a diverse cultural celebration.

The 2019 program will run from 9-27 January and will offer a range of both free and ticketed events ideal for people of all ages, with the inclusion of many family-friendly events.

With genres spanning across cabaret and classical, to classes, outdoor events and more, there is something for everyone. While it’s difficult to narrow it down to just a few must-see events, we have selected some of our favourites.

The MOON installations is a free event at World Square which marks the 50th anniversary of the moon landing. If you’re up for a good time, you can’t look past the Magic Mirrors Spiegeltent and Festival Garden in Hyde Park hosted by Sydney’s most fabulous DJ duo, The Dollar Bin Darlings.

With a large emphasis on art this year and every year, we encourage you to explore one of the many art installations at Carriageworks, the Museum of Contemporary Art, UNSW Galleries or Artspace.

Running since 1977, Sydney Festival has grown to become one of Australia's largest annual cultural celebrations and continues to reflect on the cultural diversity of our city, which attracts both Sydneysiders and visitors nationally and worldwide.

Celebrate the New Year with a celebration of our city, and explore the wonders that make Sydney one of the best cities in the world!
